City of Kirkland Festival Celebrates Style and Taste
Kirkland,
WA - April 22, 2009 -The City of Kirkland uncorks its
signature summer festival of art, style and taste July 17-19,
2009, in picturesque Marina Park. In its third year, Kirkland
Uncorked will delight locals and visitors from near and far
with its sensory celebration alongside the renowned, shimmering
waterfront location.
Kirkland Uncorked celebrates the best of Washington wine, art,
food, music and lifestyle elements, with activities and exhibits
throughout Kirkland's picturesque waterfront and downtown. More
than 60,000 guests attended Uncorked last year with visitors
from throughout the U.S. and Canada celebrating alongside thousands
of area residents.
The Tasting and Lifestyle Garden will offer visitors an opportunity
to sample more than 60 vintages from over 20 Washington wineries,
including the Kirkland Uncorked Salmon Safe Signature Wine created
by Terra Blanca. Winemakers and winery liaisons will be on hand
to answer guest questions, and assist with tasting tips to best
guide guests through the collection of regional wines.
Wine will be paired with live jazz music, along with the highly
acclaimed chef grilling competition. Watch the culinary talents
of the Northwest's top area chefs collide in a head-to-head
grill off on Saturday at 5pm. Kirkland Uncorked celebrates the
tastes of summer with grilling demonstrations throughout the
weekend. The prestigious line-up includes Executive Chef Bobby
Moore of Barking Frog in Woodinville Wine Country, Executive
Chef Brian Scheehser of Trellis Restaurant in downtown Kirkland,
and Executive Chef Seth Caswell of Emmer in downtown Seattle.
A full list of participating chefs will be announced in the
coming weeks.
In addition to the Tasting and Lifestyle Garden, guests can
enjoy luxury on water with the Discover Boating Showcase, bringing
the best of the Seattle Boat Show to the Eastside. And sea-fairing
history buffs will have the opportunity to experience a full-scale
reproduction of the American pioneer vessel Lady, Washington.
The 112-foot ship was created in 1989 in celebration of Washington
States Centennial celebration. The Lady Washington will be on
site all weekend for guided tours and sailings.
Art lovers rejoice, Artist Lane will feature 60 "Best of
the Northwest" artists presented by the Northwest Art Alliance.
Artisan booths will fill Marina Park, where visitors will be
able to view and purchase from the artists themselves. Lifestyle
art and design tips will be available inside the Tasting and
Lifestyle Garden from the style experts at Seattle Homes &
Lifestyles. The design specialists will be discussing home décor
during workshops and lecture series throughout the weekend.
